These photos were taken by Director of Photography and President of IVM, Cooper Ross during two recent aerial photo shoots. We had to cut the first flight short due to a massive low level cloud bank that was approaching the Oklahoma City area. The last photo in the slide show was taken just west of El Reno at about 2000 feet. Notice the ominous wall of fog with cirrus clouds above. It was an impressive sight. Special thanks to helicopter pilot Brian Winslow for not crashing us into the Devon tower.

You can view more of our amazing aerial photography here.

We're excited to annouce Insight Visual Media's recent purchase of a Canon EOS C300 cinema camera. Those of us in the production industry who have leveraged the power of Canon DSLR's for their remarkable low light performance understand what a breakthrough this new cinema camera is. Being able to seamlessly integrate this camera into our existing workflow made it a clear choice over the Red Epic or Red Scarlett. Rather than reading more about it I'll simply give you a few great video reviews of this camera. This will be our A camera on most projects moving forward and we'll be sure to post a follow up review.

Insight Visual Media Productions would like to welcome Kris Graham on board the mother ship. Kris is a young and virile University of Central Oklahoma graduate with a bright future ahead of him. He is a former president of the UCO Advertising Chapter and recently worked as a social networking coordinator for a large IT company. In addition to being a professional hotdog eating champion he's a skilled spelunker and once carved a life size ice sculpture of John Wayne using only a coke can and a peach pit. Ok, none of the aforementioned hobbies are true but what is true is Kris's passion for advertising. Kris will be heading up our Online Community Management department and will play a key role in other advertising & marketing projects.

Slow-Mo Mondays Vol. 11

So what's the point with Slow-Mo Monday's you might ask. The very basic explanation is that it is enjoyable to watch. Sure, we like that it drives page views, helps drive search engines to us and ultimately gives our company a little more exposure but at the end of the day we really want our productions to stand out and we want them to be enjoyable. Slow-Mo Mondays is a creative outlet that also helps us develop and hone our high speed production workflow. Including high speed camera visuals into any production is not cheap. As such, our clients expect us to keenly understand the specific lighting needs that these cameras have and how to implement this highly specialized workflow into the overall production process.

You don't have to browse through our company portfolio very long to see that we are different. We're raising the visual bar in more ways than high speed film. Utilizing video to communicate your organization's message is an extremely important piece of the overall marketing puzzle. The internet is a crowded sea of videos and it's becoming increasingly difficult to retain a viewer after the video starts playing -- let alone impress them and motivate them to action. A poorly produced video can actually do more harm to your image than not using the video at all. On the flip side, a stellar video can not only drive sales and increase your bottom line, it elevates the perception people have of your company. People (especially first time customers) feel more comfortable doing business with companies who have an impressive visual presence. This is where Insight Visual Media delivers.

(CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO VIEW IN FULL SCREEN THEN USE THE ARROWS TO NAVIGATE THROUGH ALL THE PHOTOS)

So I saw that Chesapeake's social media team tweeted everyone to post pictures of the Chesapeake Christmas lights on their Facebook page. So I tweeted back "why don't you make it a photo contest?" to which they replied "At the suggestion of Facebook fan Cooper Ross, this is now officially a Holiday Lights Photo Contest. Best photo wins a CHK Christmas ornament!". My folks recently came out to visit us from their home in Tennessee and they were blown away with the Christmas lights at Chesapeake. I remember being really impressed the first time I saw them, too. If you think about it, they really are doing a great service to our city. People who come to visit are blown away with that campus this time of year and it leaves a lasting impression. Combine that with all the other great things happening in our city and all of the sudden they are going back to their state telling all their friends and colleagues how cool Oklahoma City is.

If you've ever taken pictures of Christmas lights before you know how challenging it can be. Smaller cameras tend to have autofocus problems and usually overcompensate the ISO making the picture look a bit grainy and even with a DSLR it's really easy to blow out the lights. I really wanted to take a set of photos that showed how magnificent these lights are so other people around the country could experience them, too. I'm not sure when the official contest is over but I have a two year old who is anxiously awaiting that ornament so she can pull it off the tree and smash it to pieces.
